As a mother, I know the challenges of this important job. It is a 24-7 post that will be the center of your life. No certifications, degrees or credentials required to accept this post. And yet, it is the hardest job to do well. I think that all parents at one point or another reflect on the child-rearing days and ponder, what if?
As a mother, your children regardless of age may bring you the greatest joy or pain. Childbirth sets the stage for joy and pain to arrive simultaneously. I love my daughter in a way that is special between us. We are connected through our genes and similarities. Our shared life experiences provide laughter, offers opportunities for growth, and then some. It is a work in process.
As a mother, I know that my life would have been very different without my child. Becoming a mother changes your focus and propels you off in totally different directions. Very quickly, your life becomes almost singularly focused on “the child”. I love my daughter and having her changed me as a person.
The other day my baby sister and her husband AKA Superman, welcomed their first child into the world. My sister waited an awfully long time to experience the joy of motherhood. My sister GA Peach, was able to share this special day with the new family as SRM splashed into the world. GA Peach will make a great Aunt and be wonderful support for the new Mom.
The “joy of it all” has only just begun for the new family. Poor Gidget, will have a surprise when Baby Sis and Superman arrive at home. My Mom is on the scene to assist with the “baby takeover” and to bond with the babe. I am sure that everyone will share in the sleepless nights. I am sure that they will love it all.
The new baby has provided new life into our family in more ways than one. Sharing in the joy of the new addition has touched our family. I look forward to meeting SRM and giving him hugs and kisses from his favorite Aunt. I look forward to sharing in the joy that the new addition will bring.
